Patrick Mahomes Learns the Two Most Important Words for New Parents; ‘Sleep Schedule’Patrick Mahomes spent his offseason loving girl dad life and he’s learned some lessons along the way. Including the most important for all new parents.
“We learned the two most important words in being parents is ‘sleep schedule’,” he told the Today Show. “We have the sleep schedule down.”
Sleep deprivation is among the most difficult parts of bringing a newborn into this world. At least, from the dad’s perspective (I guess moms think the delivery can be unpleasant?). You’re basically a zombie for a few weeks at least, sometimes longer. People make a big deal out of changing diapers (it’s fine, no one cares anymore) but it’s the lack of sleep that is the true killer in this process.

Mahomes is learning that just like every other dad of a 5-month-old (and those who came before them). He said his wife Brittany has “been a champ” and the “best mom ever” but that he still doubts his dad skills sometimes when he’s alone with his daughter.
“There’s moments she’s crying…and I have no idea what to do after I try all the tricks,” he said. “Luckily there hasn’t been too many of those moments.”
Mahomes will be looking to capitalize on his newfound dad strength when KC takes the field this fall in their quest to return to the Super Bowl for the third straight season. And if his daughter keeps sleeping the way she has been, Mahomes should be playing at the 99 level Madden labeled him with.
